31 days of working out
I've been working out for 31 days in a row, now.
Bar the 5 rest days, of course. A man's gotta rest from time to time.
The most surprising thing I've found about doing these workouts - short and sweet, 18 minutes at a time - are the mental health benefits.
We can all struggle from time to time, and I know that mornings are the weak point for me; I can sit at my desk with a plan for the day and wonder how I'm going to get it all done. That's not a good start.
But throwing out the exercise mat and getting everything ready for when I'm able to spend 18 minutes following my exercise plan for the day makes a huge difference. When I'm done, I'm tired, but elated. The endorphins kick in and flush out the doubts.
When I do a workout, I'm ready for the rest of the day.
As much as I might not want to do a workout, the accessibility of the exercise - it's right there, on my phone, whenever I'm ready to do it - and the ease of working out - a mat, on the floor, and that's it - means that excuses are hard to come by.
Make it only 18 - 20 minutes long, and it's even easier to get done.
Then I feel better - fast - and the rest of the day flies by.
